STN Impacting the Nation of Nepal
A vision for multiplication, which started in the US, expanded to Nepal via North India. Read on to hear of the life transformation of N., his village and many more in the mountains of Nepal.
The Seeds of Multiplication
From 2008-2014, Shepherding the Nations (STN) consistently hosted Bible training institutes in North India. During this time, the STN leadership from the US and India traveled thousands of miles to instruct faithful men in the study of God’s Word. One of these faithful men was Pastor KB. He regularly attended STN training and did graduate from the courses equipped with practical, biblical training for everyday life and local church ministry. As a native to Nepal, Pastor KB traveled a great distance from his hometown to complete the STN training in North India. He began introducing the teaching materials to local evangelists and pastors of rural house churches in his own country. At the same time, God was leading another graduate from the North India training to accept the challenge of reaching remote locations in Nepal. This man, J., was committed to teaching these men the STN Bible training materials every month.
Church Planting
After N. turned from witchcraft to serve the living and true God, he started to attend a church. His relationship with God began to grow. Motivated by the love of God he began to share the gospel with his relatives and friends. He began to visit his friend’s village regularly, walking nearly ten miles one way to share the gospel. God was at work! This friend, along with a few other villagers, came to believe in the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ! They at once began to gather as a church for worship and have regularly continued since 2012. After a year of fellowship, with the fledgling church, N. place his friend in charge of overseeing the church so that he could begin to concentrate sharing the gospel in another friend’s area. There, another church was established! Just as before, N. stayed for a year, then handed off his leadership to a faithful friend in the Lord. Today, both of those pastors are sitting under STN training.
Even while witnessing in neighboring villages, N. was sharing the gospel with his own village and relatives. Many of them put have their trust in God for their salvation! They began to gather for worship every Saturday in a temporary shed they set up on land owned by N.
Though it appeared it was simply by chance that N. was accepted into the STN training in 2016, all of this was entirely God’s divine plan. Since graduation from STN, not a day goes by without N. ministering to a group of villagers or to families, even late into the night. STN training radically reshaped N’s thinking. He is now accurately in the interpretation, application, and teaching of the Word of God. As N. explains, he learned sound doctrine from STN classes. The STN family of trainees provides the fellowship, resources, and practical teaching. They learned how to read the Bible. They learned to encourage, counsel, and pray for one another’s burdens. N. began to study the Word of God deeply to prepare for sermons and teaching. His relationship with God continued to grow. Each step has been instrumental in his ministry.

The final course of instruction through STN moved N. to visit another pastor and STN classmate. That pastor found it difficult to share the gospel and to gather believers. This pastor lived far away from N.’s village. Even though N. could ride a bike part way, to reach this remote village he had to walk one and a half hours through the mountain forest. His travel was small compared to God’s eternal work in these distant villages. God has used N. and his fellow STN graduate to establish churches in the mountains of Nepal. They appointed elders for each house church. Now, these elders are sitting under STN training. N. has the joy of visiting these church leaders every month, walking one and a half hours in mountainous terrain to bring these elders solid biblical training through the training of STN.

Taking the task of a trainer
N. understands that Nepali churches are far away from true Biblical teaching. As a result, their numbers are declining. Since his training with STN, N. has become burdened seeing churches that lack proper education of the Word of God. So, he has committed to extend STN training to many more areas. Now N. is teaching at five different locations in Nepal.
After sitting under the biblical training of STN, N. is truly devoted to his salvation, sound biblical doctrines, his responsibilities as a pastor, and to special ministries of believers. N. is so committed to “look carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). He doesn’t want to lose a single opportunity to share the gospel or to minister to his brothers and sisters in Christ. Report by J. S.
